ToolBox
We do have a Mac version in the making. I cannot tell you a completion date as of yet.
Installing the ToolBox is very simple. Just run the installer.
We always strive to keep the ToolBox up to date with the latest ZBrush. The ToolBox will work with ZBrush 4R8-2019, however not all brush sets are backwards compatible. In order to use all brushe sets, you will need to be up-to-date with the latest version of ZBrush.
This is simply windows telling you that this software is not “trusted”. It is not a virus flag. All you need to do is simply tell the anti-virus software to trust the installation or submit it for testing. Whichever your antivirus prefers. We are working on getting a digitally signed authentication certificate. This is coming soon.
This means one of the following:
A. ZBrush is missing the plugin file that gives it the connection.
B. Your path to ZBrush is incorrect inside the ToolBox.
The Solution is the same:
Open the ToolBox. Go to Settings. Change the path to the ZBrush root to be the ZBrush you are wanting to run it with. Unfortunately because of how plug-ins work in ZBrush, we cannot make the ToolBox work with multiple versions of ZBrush at the same time.
All you need is the installer (exe).
Yes! You have to have a membership accounton XMDSource.com in order to download from the ToolBox. However, no worries, if you have a membership through Gumroad, Cubebrush, Fipped Normals, or ArtStation, you are covered. Simply put in a ticket to XMD.Freshdesk.com and you will be set up asap.
Close Zbrush. Open the ToolBox. Go to Settings and change the path to the new ZBrush installation root. Restart ZBrush and the ToolBox.
Yes of course! Just load the location of your non-XMD brushes in the ToolBox settings/preferences/brush/locations

Absolutely! Just press the “Keep on top” double ^ at the top left of the ToolBox. Currently there is no way to dock the ToolBox inside of ZBrush itself, but hopefully one day! This is a limitation of ZBrush’s plug-in system.

Currently we do not support custom themes. However, there are several themes available in:
Settings/Preferences/General/Theme
The ToolBox will always update itself. No need to worry about what version you are running. Simply close and reopen the ToolBox to auto-update.
(if you have 1.1.0.5 or earlier, you will need to manually update)
You can find all of the latest brushes on XMDSource.com, Gumroad, Cubebrush and Flipped Normals. However the easiest way to stay up to to date is to set up your account at XMDSource.com and open the library inside of the ToolBox to get the latest brushes straight from the ToolBox. Request an account at xmd.freshdesk.com if you have already purchased one at another site. Please include your email to verification purposes.
